10:39 am - Visitng from Alaska
Hey, I am planning a trip to New York from Anchorage Alaska in mid-May for my 26th birthday, and will only be in the city for a few days. I've been to New York before, about four years ago, but this time I will be visiting on my own and am looking for some ideas of where to go and hang out. I have a ticket to see the Yankees play the day of my birthday (yes, I am a diehard Yankees fan, which is actually the point of my trip), but for the rest of the time I've got a couple of places I'd like to see, but mostly I want to avoid the "touristy" things and settle in and do things and go places that the people who live in New York do and go to. If ya'all could point me in some intersting directions I would be very grateful.

See ya!

st nicks pub on 141 and st nick in harlem is one or two stops downtown from yankee stadium and an incredible place to see live jazz and meet interesting characters. also the fish & chips devins on the same block has excellent calamari.

I think I've heard of St. Nick's before. Thank you for suggesting it.
